Ty Beanies were created by their inventor Ty Warner (hence Ty) back in 1993. Ty Warner had been travelling in Italy and discovered some plush flat cat toys that caught his attention. With some savings and a windfall, he began selling plush cats in the USA. But Ty wanted a toy that kids could buy with their small allowance and later developed his own range of small cuddly beanie babies that are now referred to as ‘The Original 9’. And so, the Beanie Babies phenomenon was born and made Ty Warner, more than a small allowance!
